COACH'S NOTES ~

Have you ever been in a situation where you were completely confused or perplexed because the idiosyncrasies of the moment were beyond comprehension? Maybe it was because of mixed messages, clouded issues or difficulty in finding the truth from the fiction. In the middle of the nonsensical reality you find yourself running amuck through the confusing terrain, trying to make rhyme or reason out of chaos. Regardless of the reason, certain situations appear as a distinct clash between reality and fiction. In hindsight you might be able to see the opportunities that were unraveling in your life as a result of this strange and unbelievable situation. More often than not we are spun into unconscious reaction.

While these situations can arise without notice, we are first responsible for our full awareness to not be reactive. An erroneous action may lead to greater confusion and add another layer of challenges to an already exacerbated situation. This is the moment when taking a step back, listening, observing and being mindful of the chaos and all of the subtleties must be taken into consideration. A careful glance, a deep breath and a conscious word can make the difference between smooth transitions or greater challenges.

Listen to your own inner voice as to what constitutes right action for you. This is not about being right or making anyone else wrong. This is your opportunity to be in your truth and share your vision of the self with those who are also caught in the nonsensical circumstances. Take into account the facts as you understand them. Use your own internal knowledge to access the information that will support you to respond in a manner that is honest and has integrity.

In even the most challenging of situations we can respond in a manner that honors our greatness and the greatness of others. A bitter struggle causes only more bitterness and struggle. With awareness and wisdom we can take leave of the struggles. We can step beyond the challenging situations, using our internal wisdom and skill as our source of truth and inspiration. We are no longer bound by the people or situations that remain embroiled in the challenging circumstances.

TEACHABLE MOMENTS ~The Lion and The Cougar

A pointed fable is told about a young lion and a cougar. Both thirsty, the
animals arrived at their usual water hole at the same time. They immediately
began to argue about who should satisfy their thirst first. The argument
became heated, and each decided he would rather die than give up the
privilege of being first to quench his thirst. As they stubbornly confronted
each other, their emotions turned to rage. Their cruel attacks on each other
were suddenly interrupted. They both looked up. Circling overhead was a
flock of vultures waiting for the loser to fall. Quietly, the two beasts
turned and walked away. The thought of being devoured was all they needed to
end their quarrel.

Never under any circumstances take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests you think she's pregnant.

There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age 11.

If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings."
